Start with your team.
Share the load more fairly.
Balance weekday, weekend and night shifts against each physician’s quota. See workload over time, and account for location continuity across hospitals.
Sample nights. Quotas are configured by the administrator.
Make room for time off.
Make room for the days that matter while respecting rest rules and night-shift limits. See time-off requests alongside coverage, and review alternatives when they conflict.
Choose a schedule you can explain.

A few more things.
From a fairer roster to a change of plans.
Building your schedule
Who is RosterKind for?
RosterKind is designed for private physician groups, including neonatal, PICU and hospitalist teams. It brings coverage, time off and workloads into one place for the person building the schedule and the physicians working it. It’s especially relevant when part-time availability, multiple locations and recurring changes make a spreadsheet hard to maintain.
How does it help reduce scheduling work?
A schedule can take days of manual planning: repeatedly balancing coverage, night shifts, weekends, time off and individual availability. RosterKind starts you with two schedule options built around your team’s rules, so you can spend your time reviewing trade-offs and making decisions instead of rebuilding a spreadsheet.
What does an administrator set up?
Define your team size and physicians, locations, shift types and coverage needs. Add each physician’s availability and quotas, along with rules for rest, night shifts and location continuity when physicians work across multiple sites. These settings guide the schedules the solver considers.
Can we plan monthly, six-month or annual schedules?
Yes. RosterKind supports monthly, six-month and annual schedules. Plan over the period that fits your team, with availability, quotas, coverage and time-off requests considered together.
How are the two schedule options chosen?
The rules-based solver compares hundreds of candidate schedules against your organization’s coverage needs, availability, quotas and workload rules. The recommended schedule is the best fit for your configured priorities; the alternative relaxes one or two soft preferences, with those trade-offs visible for review. Hard requirements, including rest limits, stay enforced in both options. Your administrator compares the options and decides which plan to publish.
Fairness, time off and recovery
How does RosterKind help with fairness?
RosterKind tracks workload over time, so fairness isn’t judged from one roster alone. Compare weekday, weekend and night shifts against each physician’s quotas, availability and requests. Equal shift counts don’t always mean a fair workload; seeing the burden across schedules helps you identify and address imbalances.
What happens when time-off requests conflict?
Review requests alongside the shifts that need covering. The system flags violations and conflicting requests, so you can see where the plan needs attention. Compare alternatives, then work with your team to resolve the remaining conflicts. Your administrator decides which trade-offs to accept before publishing.
How are rest rules handled?
RosterKind enforces your team’s configured rest rules when building the schedule. Set night-shift limits and recovery requirements alongside coverage and availability. Your practice defines the rules it needs, and you can review the resulting assignments before publishing.
How does RosterKind support workload and recovery?
For teams tackling burnout, the scheduling details matter: rest between shifts, night-shift limits, the distribution of weekends and room for time off. RosterKind brings these rules and requests into the same plan and makes individual workloads visible for review. Your practice retains responsibility for staffing and working conditions.
Reviewing and publishing
What can we review for each physician?
Reporting brings together shift counts, including day, night and weekend tallies, quota use, request compliance, flagged violations and fairness scores. Review each physician’s breakdown alongside the whole team, analyse workload over time and see the effect of an adjustment before you publish.
What if there isn’t enough coverage?
RosterKind helps make coverage gaps and conflicting requests visible so your team can decide what to change. Scheduling software cannot create extra staffing capacity. Decisions about backup coverage, staffing levels and working policies remain with your practice.
Who has the final say on the schedule?
Your administrator does. Review the recommended schedule and alternative, check individual workloads and flagged violations, then publish the plan you choose. Published schedules are locked: an administrator must unpublish before making changes, then publish the revised plan.
What happens when staffing changes?
When availability or staffing changes, RosterKind can repair the schedule to reflect the new situation. For a published schedule, an administrator first unpublishes it. Review the revised assignments and trade-offs, make adjustments and publish the updated plan.
Keeping everyone up to date
Can physicians see their shifts on their phone?
The physician experience brings published shifts, locations and time off into a weekly mobile calendar. Physicians can also sync shifts with the calendar they already use, making it easier to plan the rest of their week.
How does a shift swap work?
A physician chooses a colleague’s shift and sends a swap request. The colleague reviews the exchange and accepts it. Once accepted, the schedule updates and the administrator is notified, so the change is visible in the team calendar.
Experimental AI
Does AI decide the schedule?
The core scheduling engine is a rules-based solver. It works from your configured requirements and preferences, and your administrator chooses what to publish. We’re exploring AI tools to help with analysis, explanations and communication. These tools are experimental and do not replace your team’s scheduling decisions.
Which AI tools are you exploring?
Alongside the rules-based solver, we’re exploring an Insights panel for fairness analysis and trend detection; an AutoFix agent that relaxes soft preferences and reruns the solver to seek a feasible schedule while keeping hard requirements enforced; a Schedule explainer for why assignments were made or requests denied; and personalized email drafts for schedule distribution. These tools are experimental: their scope and availability may change.
